Goldston House Bed & Breakfast Rockhampton
The Queenslander

Goldston House was built in 1865 as the Railway Offices for the yet to be constructed 'Great Northern Railway'. The building housed the team overseeing the construction of the line until the new Railway Station, with its professional offices, was ready for occupation.

In 1867 the Traffic Manager took up residence in the house and it continued to be used as the residence for the top Railway official in Central Queensland until it was sold to private hands in 1974.

The house is a single skin timber and tin home, with external stud framing and was very innovative in design for its time. Goldston House is the oldest 'Queenslander' known to exist in Queensland.
